Quality Inspector

General Summary: 

Reports to Workshop Manager. Responsible for establishing and documenting policies and procedures to quality check manufactured, purchased & service components. Inspect, measure and compare parts using all types of precision measuring equipment. Report and manage the data from the whole inspection process.  Provide assistance to Race Team Servicing requirements.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Promoting quality achievement and performance improvement across the organization.
  • Serve as a point of contact for quality issues with internal departments, suppliers and vendors whilst formulating and agreeing comprehensive QA procedures.
  • Establishing and maintaining QA procedures including reporting and analyzing information whilst resolving any issues and striving for continual improvements.
  • Assist technical staff when carrying out tests and checks, in a laboratory/manufacturing environment.
  • Writes technical and management system reports & liaises with internal departments in regard to quality issues.
  • Inspection of goods received, including dimensional and aesthetic checks to drawings and/or master samples
  • Recording of goods inward inspections and completing quality inspection reports for non-conforming goods requiring supplier or internal actions.
  • Raising of concessions and rejection notes where appropriate, in accordance with the Quality Management System.
  • Laser engrave identifying information on parts.
  • Follow and enforce health and safety regulations at all venues.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Workshop Manager.

Education and Work Experience:

Previous experience gained in a similar role within the field of Formula 1/WEC/WRC will be preferred however consideration will be given to a candidate who can demonstrate a sound record of service within the industry.
3+ years of QA/QE experience in a manufacturing environment.
2+ years of CMM (Coordinates Measuring Machines) programming experience

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

  • Knowledge of Computers and CMM programming software, CAD software, ISO standards.
  • Ability to read and accurately andinterpret technical drawings.
  • An understanding of the importance of quality in a manufacturing and customer serving environment.
  • Experience of working in a Quality Control environment.
  • Proven track record of quality audit and inspection of suppliers.
  • Experience of working to standards such as ISO9001.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office packages to an intermediate level.
  • Ability to prioritise and work on own initiative.
  • Diplomatic Communicator with experience of writing letters and reports.
  • Experience of using stock control systems such as Microsoft AX.
  • A can do positive approach and a willingness to help others is essential.

Equipment and Applications:

CMM Machine, Rockwell tester, assorted precision gauges and micrometers, various hand tools, Computer and associated programming software.

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritize within a high pressure, time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. The role requires a willingness to work long and flexible hours including weekends.

This position may require lifting up to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast- paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands.  

Work environment includes race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
