IT Systems Technician

General Summary: 

Reports to the IT Operations Manager (US) or his designee.  Based in our office near Parma, Italy, The IT Systems Technician is responsible for the operational support and development of IT systems in two branch offices.  They will play a key part in ensuring the delivery of best in class IT solutions and services to the company and its users.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide operational end user support, guidance and incident management to agreed service levels for local systems within multiple Italian sites.
  • Monitor and troubleshoot the infrastructure, supporting servers, storage, virtualization, network devices, voice, video systems and security appliances.
  • Support and administer Windows based services such as AD, Group Policy, DNS and DHCP.
  • Monitor and management of DFS and other data replication technologies.
  • Support, maintain and resolve incidents on all PLM & CAD systems and applications software.
  • Work with other members of the IT team to facilitate system change and upgrades, following business readiness and change management procedures.
  • Perform project delivery for IT and PLM/CAD related projects, from gathering requirement specifications to handover and documentation.
  • Maintain up to date documentation, FAQ's, knowledgebase articles and accurate reporting.
  • Adhere to all IT and wider business processes.
  • Other duties as assigned by the IT Operations Manager.

Education and Work Experience:

BSc or MIS or Computer Science required, or equivalent work experience. Typically requires at least 2-3 years’ experience in the IT field. Ideally have experience and/or exposure to supporting PLM and/or CAD systems.  Working in an international environment desirable.  Italian written and verbal skills an advantage.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Have relevant experience in a similar technical position. Be extremely self-driven and able to work efficiently with little or no daily supervision.  A quick thinker, be a flexible and adaptive character with the ability react to and solve problems with speed and efficiency, sometimes under high pressure.

Equipment and Applications:

Solid understanding of Ethernet networking, switching, routing, network installations and troubleshooting. Strong knowledge of Microsoft server & desktop environments and Active Directory.  Experience with virtualised environments.  Knowledge and experience of one or more leading PLM/PDM systems such as 3DExperience or Enovia an advantage.  Experience supporting CAD software such as Catia V5/V6, Windchill, Creo/Pro E desirable.

Work Environment Physical Demands:

An ability to work and prioritise within a pressurised time sensitive environment while retaining a methodical approach is essential. Excellent communications skills are required.  The role is based in Italy, and will involve travel between two fixed sites and a willingness to work flexible hours, including occasional weekends.

This position may require lifting up to 50 pounds, repeated bending, squatting and manual dexterity. Fast- paced work environment requiring heavy mental demands.  Work environment includes race cars, 7-post and other rigs, grinding debris, and hazardous fluids.
